Fellow Petrie Island ice fisherman, Brenda Grant passed away suddenly at her home on May 4, 2013. Known affectionately to some ice fishermen as Pocahontas because of her Indian style boots and parka, she will be missed by the ice fishing community of Petrie Island.
A person who loved the outdoors and nature, she actually had two red ice shacks at Petrie Island! In her words, "One hut is for ice fishing and the other hut is for reading and sleeping." Brenda was one of the colorful characters who made our ice fishing community what it is. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family members of Brenda, plus her friends and colleagues.
A memorial service for Brenda will be held at the Britannia United Church, 985 Pinecrest Road in Ottawa, on Monday, May 13 at 1:00 p.m. We invite you to leave your condolences, tributes, memories and photos of Brenda on The PIIFA Facebook Page.- Brenda's obituary on Legacy.com >>>
